When you visit the Theodore Payne Foundation nursery, you'll discover that every plant has a placard that provides detailed information on that plant. It provides basic descriptive information, horticultural requirements, and indications of special uses, such as "Attracts Birds" or "Good Under Oaks." These placards were prepared over the Foundation's nearly 50 years of assisting people with California native plant gardening. The information provided on the following pages is drawn from those placards.
In addition, these pages include additional information about care and maintenance for each plant, some historical background concerning the plant, and other information of note. These sections are under development. Check back to discover new information about your favorite plants. You can also provide input on the "Discussion" page available for each plant. This is also a great place to learn what other native plant gardeners think about the plant.
